In this theory course, the student is introduced to the foundations of public and community health nursing. This course is focused on individuals, families, communities, and populations, and is grounded in the principles of social justice, ethics, policy, and eco-competence. Students use clinical reasoning to assess and analyze community data, identify community nursing diagnoses, and plan evidence-based nursing interventions for primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention to improve health and limit local and global health disparities.
